Where it suits
When Sanctuary is the right answer
This is the line to pick when the deck has to look like part of the house rather than like a product.
Owners who want texture, not uniformity
The rustic embossing and multi-tonal streaking break up a large surface. On a big deck, a flat single-tone board can read as a plastic slab; this does not.
Older or wood-clad houses
The deeper grain sits better against brick and stained siding than a smooth modern board, which is why it works in the established sectors of Boucherville and Vieux-Longueuil.
Shaded and partly wooded lots
The darker tones do not carry the heat penalty they would in full sun, and the grain looks right under a tree canopy.
A step below the top of the range
Forty years instead of a lifetime, three-sided cap instead of four. For a raised deck with airflow underneath, that is often a sensible saving.

Concordia carries a lifetime performance warranty and a four-sided cap; Sanctuary carries 40 years and a three-sided cap. The trade is real but narrower than the price gap suggests, especially on a raised deck where the underside stays dry and ventilated.

It can be. Any dark composite gets hot in direct sun, and the Sanctuary range runs darker than most. In a south-facing yard with no shade we would talk you through the lighter options or through PVC before you commit to Espresso.
The underside of the board. On a deck with normal airflow beneath it that is not a practical concern. On a very low deck sitting close to damp ground, a four-sided cap is the better engineering choice.
Yes — a version meeting ASTM E84 Class B. It rarely comes up on a single-family backyard, but it matters on balconies in multi-unit buildings and on some commercial terraces.
